We are our stories.
We normally are the protagonists in our own stories.
Among our regular, uneventful days, we set out on missions and adventures, fight some epic battles here and there.
There are other players, an antagonist or two, and maybe some monsters.
We play out our scenes, see what we see, hear what we hear.
What’s unfortunate is that we don’t get to create real facts or establish true reality.
We humans are limited in our ability to perceive anything in its wholesomeness.
We are constantly interpreting, sometimes without realizing that all we’re seeing and hearing are interpretations through our lenses, available at the time.
What’s fortunate is that we get to be the writers, editors and masterminds at the same time as we are protagonists.
We decide what’s real. We decide what’s possible. We declare matters into our own reality.
What power!
Well, the key to unlocking this power, is called “awareness”.
As Stephen R. Covey puts it, “We see the world, not as it is, but as we are – or, as we are conditioned to see it.”
As Gandhi puts it, “A man is but a product of his thoughts. What he thinks he becomes.”
As Byron Katie puts it, “Suffering is optional.”
I’ve been here before. I’ve been trying really hard to open this door. Yes I have.
Is it this door? Is it now? Am I ready? What if there is something better? What if I regret? What if I am wrong? What makes me want this change, the reality here isn’t that bad is it? Is it not?
Oh don’t you yeah-yeah and roll your eyes on me!
Me, myself and I… My past, present and future. Positive or negative. All spectrum and domains of life.
Gratitude is everywhere.
Is it?
